Ms Karen Joash is a highly regarded consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist in Harley Street and Central London, who is renowned for providing world-class services to women suffering from a number of conditions. She provides a comprehensive range of treatments including: maternal medicine, perinatal mental health, hysteroscopies and fertility advice.
About Ms Karen Joash
Dr Karen Joash is an obstetrician and gynaecologist who is passionate about delivering high quality care to all women. She has been working in obstetrics and gynaecology for over fifteen years and is well known for being a skilled labour ward practitioner.
Her aim is to help women achieve the type of delivery which is tailored to their wants and needs. With her holistic approach and knowledge of both low risk and high risk conditions she is able to provide this for all women. From waterbirths to natural caesarean she aims to give families a safe, memorable and happy birth experience. In her NHS role she is the lead for perinatal mental health and postnatal care understanding the birth journey doesn’t stop at delivery and support in this period can be crucial. She was the lead for Quality and Safety in Maternity at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and is principled on the importance of safe practice.
She also provides a comprehensive service in gynaecology with expertise in early pregnancy, polycystic ovarian syndrome and gynaecology scanning. She understands the busy schedules women have and is able to fit most procedures into the office setting if required. Dr Joash is also proficient at outpatient hysteroscopy and coil insertions. She is skilled in the management of menstrual disorders, hormonal disturbances, pre-menstrual disorders and fibroids. Her passion for excellence in medical education led to her former appointment as the divisional director for Education women’s and children’s at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and the current Head of School for postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, London.
She has led on several quality improvement projects in Imperial including the Baby box trial, which received national acclaim. She is involved in research with midwifery led units, pelvic health projects and is a scientific advisor to the Tommy’s charity. She is a member of the RCOG Race Quality Taskforce and a the RCPsych perinatal group. She has previously been a member of the London clinical leadership network to analyse maternal outcomes and emergency maternity care.
Her other interests include entrepreneurship. She co-founded a wellness and supplement company www.bepurer.co.uk. She is also an Inspirational Coach (http://www.thethrivehouse.co.uk) and supports many doctors through their career journey.
